Travel Money Reviews
Post Office Travel Money
09 November 2009
The post office travel money service offers a range of benefits for the online buyer, offering a huge range of foreign currencies plus 0% commission and foreign exchange buy back. Whether you want to buy dollars, buy Indonesian rupiah or Japanese Yen the Post Office can supply you with 56 different foreign currencies.
Your travel cash can then be delivered to your home for free (if you buy more than £500 worth of foreign currency) or to your local branch for collection, making it easier to get hold of your foreign currency cash or travellers cheques than a number of other online travel money providers.
However, there are two main drawbacks. Firstly, the maximum currency exchange is £2,500 making the Post Office Travel Money perfect for short holidays rather than long term stays. The second and main drawback is the actual foreign exchange currency rate – which is not the best exchange rate in the market, recent quotes show you can buy 1.05 Euros for £1 compared to some rates of 1.06 Euros!
Despite this, it is still a competitive travel money provider and the convenience of delivery, the range of currencies and 0% commission still make this product a good bet for your holiday money.
ICE Travel Money
09 November 2009
ICE, International Currency Exchange, provides a range of foreign exchange products; cash, traveller’s cheques and prepaid currency cards, in 30 currencies. Travel cash is provided at one of the best exchange rates in the market, particularly if you use the online and home delivery option. The currency rates are still attractive if you collect from one of ICE’s multiple branches, including airport locations, but you will not be given quite as good a deal.
Alongside attractive foreign exchange rates ICE Travel money also offers 0% commission on cash and travellers cheques, with the exception of sterling traveller’s cheques where a 1% commission fee is applied.
Your money can then be delivered free to your door, the next day as long as you order over £400 and before 3pm. Delivery does have to be to your home rather than a business so make sure you can be in to collect it!
